Electing humane legislators to the Minnesota Legislature is essential in order to enact public policies that protect animals from cruelty and unnecessary suffering.
On Nov 6, 2012, all 201 seats in the Minnesota Legislature were up for election. Due to redistricting and retirement of several state legislators, elections this year and the slate of candidates was more unexpected than usual.
Identifying candidates for state office who are committed to the humane treatment of animals and supportive of animal protection policies in order to endorse those candidates to humane-minded Minnesota voters is one of the core functions of Minnesota Voters for Animal Protection.
